GENESIS

Genesis is our percussion introduction program for young members approximately 5-7 years old. This program will take a child and their parent(s) through all types of music and give a hands-on experience to the multitude of percussion instruments.

Season | November - April

 

Rehearsals | Saturdays 8:30-9:00AM

 

Location | WH Lyon Fairgrounds Armory Building

Membership includes:

  • 5 months of 30 minute group lessons/rehearsals

  •  

    Drum sticks

  • Ear plugs

  • Groove stick bag

Public performances:

Genesis will perform a minimum of 2 times per Winter Line season; at our Waffle Breakfast in January
and Drums and Dogs in April.

Uniforms:

The student is responsible to purchase the Groove uniform.  The uniform consists of a black Groove t-shirt, Groove hat, black wristbands, blue jeans, black & white Converse All-star shoes (or something comparable), and black sunglasses of your choice. The uniform pieces are available through Groove, Inc. (with the acceptation of jeans and shoes). 

Dues:

$115/month

  • First month  payment is due November 6th

  • 3% convenience fee on card transactions will be added

  • Non-sufficient funds returns are subject to a $15 processing fee which will be collected in addition to normal fees.

  •  All dues are nonrefundable.

NEXT STEP

Next Step is for students in grades approximately 2nd - 4th. Like Genesis, this program will take a child and their parent(s) through all types of music and give a hands-on experience to the multitude of percussion instruments but with some more advanced concepts being introduced along the way.

Membership includes:

  • 5 months of 45 minute group lessons/rehearsals

  • Instrument for at home practice and performances

  • Drum sticks

  • Ear plugs

  • Groove stick bag

Public performances:

Next Step will perform a minimum of 2 times per Winter Line season; at our Waffle Breakfast in January and Drums and Dogs in April.

Uniforms:

The student is responsible to purchase the Groove uniform. The uniform consists of a black Groove t-shirt, Groove hat, black wristbands, blue jeans, black & white Converse All-star shoes (or something comparable), and black sunglasses of your choice. NEXT STEP

CADETS

Cadets is open to students in grades approximately 5th through 7th and are taught percussion techniques along with a variety of methods during rehearsals. They also learn rudimentary cadences. Previous percussion experience or an audition is required.

Season | November - April

Membership includes:

  • 6 months of group lessons/rehearsals

  • Instrument for at home practice and performances

  • Drum sticks

  • Ear plugs

  • Groove stick bag

Public performances:

CADETS

SLAM

Slam includes students in grades approximately 7th through 9th with previous percussion experience. Slam students audition for instrument placement. They practice moderately advanced cadences and percussion pieces and will perform shows at various local/nearby events during the season.

Membership includes:

  • 6 months of group lessons/rehearsals

  • Instrument for at home practice and performances

  • Drum sticks

  • Ear plugs

SLAM

IMPACT

Impact includes members in approximately grades 9th through 12th and is an advanced performance ensemble. Impact members audition for instrument placement. They practice advanced cadences and percussion pieces, learn marching techniques and will perform at events in the Sioux Falls area.

Season | November - April

 

Rehearsals | Tuesdays 6:00-8:30PM

 

Location | WH Lyon Fairgrounds Armory Building (unless otherwise noted on calendar)

Membership includes:

  • 6 months of group lessons/rehearsals

  • Instrument for at home practice and performances

  • Drum sticks

  • Ear plugs

  • Groove stick bag

Public performances:

Impact will perform a minimum of 2 times per Winter Line season; at our Waffle Breakfast in January and Drums and Dogs in April.  This group will perform shows at various local/nearby events throughout the season.

Uniforms:

The Impact uniform will be based on the show theme and the majority of the uniform will be included in the monthly dues.  The student is also responsible to purchase a black Groove uniform t-shirt.

Dues:

$160/month

  • First month  payment is due at first rehearsal.

  • 3% convenience fee on card transactions will be added

  • Non-sufficient funds returns are subject to a $15 processing fee which will be collected in addition to normal fees.

  •  All dues are nonrefundable.

IMPACT

PURSUIT

Pursuit drum line includes competitive advanced members from approximately 9th grade to 22 years of age. Pursuit participation and placement is by audition only. Pursuit competes regionally in the WGI Winter Drum line Circuit and MPA Drum Line Circuit in cities primarily in Minnesota as well as Dayton, OH. Pursuit members have gone on to compete in drum and bugle corps such as the Phantom Regiment, the Colts, Pioneer, Chopstix, Southwind, Troopers, and the Americanos.

Pursuit will perform a minimum of 2 times per Winter Line season; at our Waffle Breakfast in January and Drums and Dogs in April.  Public performances TBD.

Uniforms:

The Pursuit uniform will be based on the show theme and the majority of the uniform will be included in the monthly dues.  The student is also responsible to purchase a black Groove uniform t-shirt.

Dues:

$250-$350/month

  • First month  payment is due at first rehearsal.

  • 3% convenience fee on card transactions will be added

  • Non-sufficient funds returns are subject to a $15 processing fee which will be collected in addition to normal fees.

  •  All dues are nonrefundable. *In the event of canceled competitions, any dues reserved for travel/lodging may be refunded at the discretion of Groove, Inc.

SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

It's our hope that every student regardless of income level & families with multiple students in Groove, are able to participate in our program.  The Scholarship Fund is a donation based program within Groove that helps us assist in financial needs.  Partial scholarships are awarded each year and decided by the Executive Board at it's meeting in November.  Full scholarships are not to be expected however we will do our best to accommodate requests as much as possible.
