Pete Hansen
Founder, Executive Director
Pete is the founder and executive director of Groove Inc. He serves as an instructor, board member, bus driver, show designer and welder for the group.
His second greatest passion is teaching private percussion lessons. Over the last 30 years, his students have marched in DCI with groups such as: The Santa Clara Vanguard, The Phantom Regiment, Blue Devils, Troopers, Southwind, Crossmen, Carolina Crown, Colts, Pioneer, and Americanos. In WGI with The Blue Knights, Infinity, Minnesota Brass MBI, RCR, Chopstix Percussion, and Groove Impact and Pursuit. In addition to the marching arts he has had over 100 students make All-State Band.
In addition to Groove and Private lessons Pete has served as a percussion clinician for several tri-state area high schools: Sioux Falls Lincoln, Roosevelt, Ogorman and Christian, Lennox, Mitchell, Pierre, and Northern State University, South Dakota.
Sioux City North, South, East and West, Bishop Heelan, West Lyon, Sibley-Ocheyedan, Sheldon and Spirit Lake, Iowa.
Southwest Christian Edgerton, Sherburn, Rocori, and Pipestone Minnesota

Pete is married to Sarah and they have 4 kids; Madison 21, Oscar 19, Ira 13 & Archer 11.
Dan Sailer
Pursuit Instructor
Dan Sailer is from Sioux Falls, South Dakota where he is an Instructor of Percussion at Augustana University and Assistant Director of the Viking Marching Band. Dan works at Groove Inc. as the Ensemble Director of Groove Pursuit (PIA). He is the Principal Percussionist of the Northwest Iowa Symphony Orchestra and has also performed with the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra and the Sioux City Symphony Orchestra.

Dan is currently the Assistant Percussion Caption Head at the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps (Rockford, Il.) He has received numerous snare drum accolades at DCI and PAS solo competitions. Dan has been a percussion staff member for several premier high school groups in the Midwest including Lincoln HS, Irondale HS, and Brandon Valley HS. He has also taught at River City Rhythm, Minnesota Brass, Boston Crusaders, and Troopers Drum and Bugle Corps. Dan provides lessons via the Stryvemind online percussion platform and is frequently booked to compose, teach, adjudicate, and mentor percussionists in the Upper Midwest.

In 2014, Dan completed a Bachelor’s of Music Education in Instrumental and Vocal Music from Concordia University, St. Paul. Dan then graduated with his Master’s Degree in Percussion Performance from the University of North Texas in 2019. In his role as adjunct professor at Dordt University (2019-2021), he assisted in producing the album Music With Friends which received 2nd place in the American Prize for College Wind Bands in 2021. Performance credits include the 2019 TMEA Showcase Concert featuring Canadian Brass; the North Texas Wind Symphony recordings featuring Ryan Anthony; the Augustana University Band 125th Anniversary Album recordings with the world premier of “A Prairie of Voices” by James David; and master classes with Frédéric Macarez, Andy Narell, and Wei-Chen Lin.
Jason Raether

Jason is a school nurse for the Sioux Falls School District. When Jason is not nursing, he has a passion for percussion. At 7 years old, his passion began with banging on pots and pans and progressed through college playing at SDSU and in a variety of bands and recording. Now Jason is helping out on the marching band field at various schools in the community.
Jason is currently assisting with the programs at O'Gorman High School and Lincoln High School. He also consults on sound for several schools in the region. This will be Jason’s tenth year as an instructor for Groove, Inc. Jason lives in Sioux Falls with his wonderful wife Nancy and their 5 kids: Ben, Alex, Josh, Will, and Abby. Jason is excited to be back and that Will and Josh, and Abby will be Groove members as well.
Tyler 'TK' Klusmann

TK started playing drums before he could walk, sitting at his Dad’s drum kit. He played the snare drum through every level at Groove Inc. and competed in WGI Groove Pursuit for 3 years.
Drumming brought TK several great opportunities after graduating from Lincoln High School in 2009. He played for over 20 bands of all genres, and got to travel to Haiti, Pakistan, Dubai, Mozambique, Mexico and most of the US! His family adopted his two brothers Stanley and Wyden in 2012 after his band visited an Orphanage in Haiti. He married the woman of his dreams, Kylie, in 2019. Kylie is a great stage hand, drum tech, and passenger princess!
When he’s not gigging on the weekends, he enjoys hunting, the Green Bay Packers, and his three cats. TK is excited to be back for his 3rd year of teaching at Groove Academy!
Spencer Smith

Spencer has lived a life bouncing around the midwest. Born in Oklahoma City, moved to South Dakota at a young age where he developed his love for drumming. At age 10, Spencer ran across Pete Hansen and Groove Inc and became emphatically involved; drumming in Cadets, Slam, Impact and Pursuit where he was snare section leader for the Minnesota Percussion Association finals winning Groove Pursuit group in 2013.
Following high school, he followed his lifelong passion and calling back home where he attended the University of Oklahoma, studying Health and Exercise Science and being involved the University of Oklahoma's "Pride of Oklahoma" Marching Band, leading the drumline for two years. Spencer has played in front of crowds of more than 90,000 people at:

An emphatic fan of his Alma Mater, Spencer enjoys cheering on the Oklahoma Sooners and Oklahoma City Thunder in his free time along with keeping active and spending time with his family, friends, and "fur baby," Griffey. Between assisting with the Lincoln High School Drumline and the Groove, Spencer works for a home decor company in Sioux Falls and loves learning about and working on various entrepreneurial endeavors.
Adam Asmus

Adam is a Sioux Falls native graduating from Lincoln High School where he was a snare in the drumline and marched in the Macey’s Day Parade. He marched with pursuit in WGI Finals in 2006-07. In 2013 Adam graduated from Colorado Film School with a degree in Cinematography and Post Production.
Since then he has waterskied professionally for 5 years, been a stunt performer for 3 years in Japan and China, ski instructer at Beaver Creek Ski Resort in Avon CO, and is now working as a News Photo Journalist at KELO.
Adam and his wife Vania live in downtown Sioux Falls with their dogs Blaze and Scooby. He enjoys disc golfing, riding his motorcycle, and remodeling his investment properties.
